Fireworks @ South Florence Baptist Church

You're invited to celebrate the 4Th of July with SFBC tomorrow evening at 7:00 p.m. Invite your friends and come on out to our church for some fun. Everyone is asked to meet in our fellowship hall. You will have hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, baked beans and all the trimmings for dinner. Tea and soda drinks will be provided. We're asking each family to bring cup cakes for the desert. After the meal you can enjoy some good water melon. This should be a fun time for all who come.

Please bring your lawn chairs for the fireworks show outside at the Youth Building. The firework show should be bigger and better than ever. See you at the Celebration.

Be sure to thank all those who work to make this event possible. Thank you for sharing your time with us.

SBC @ Louisville, KY

Dr. Johnny Hunt was elected President of the SBC again this year. This was a good thing! We have the most messengers since 1992 come to the convention this week. It has been a good day.

2009 SBC Annual Meeting Updates

2009 SBC Annual Meeting
Updated: Messengers overwhelmingly adopt GCR motionTuesday, June 23, 2009 - 8:13:00 PM
Messengers moments ago overwhelmingly passed a motion authorizing the SBC president to appoint a Great Commission task force to bring a report to the annual meeting in 2010 "concerning how Southern Baptists can work more faithfully and effectively together in serving Christ through the Great Commission." By a show of ballots, the motion passed with approximately 90 percent of messengers supporting it. An attempt to pass a substitute motion asking IMB and NAMB to give the report failed by similar margin.
R. Albert Mohler Jr., a messenger from Highview Baptist Church in Louisville, Ky., made the original motion and spoke for it during discussion.
"I believe it is right and fitting," he said, for Southern Baptists "to ask the hard questions," such as, "Is there more we can do?"
"This is not an effort to reinvent the Southern Baptist Convention," Mohler added.
Frank Page, a messenger from and pastor of First Baptist Church in Taylors, S.C., also spoke for the motion. Page and Mohler both spoke from the floor.
James Rodgers, pastor of Poplar Spring Baptist Church, Iva. S.C., spoke against it.
"We have the tool for the Great Commission," he said. "It's called the Bible. Get our people out of the pew. Messengers, pastors, that's what we're called to do. I don't think we need any help from a task force."

We are in Louisville, KY at the Southern Baptist Convention. It has been exciting to hear these great preachers and singers lead in worship. The Pastor's Conference is always the highlight of the week. Rev. David Platt pastor at Birmingham, AL preached with unction last night. He is only 30 years old. What a preacher! God still anoints those who walk in His ways. I was impressed by this young preacher boy.

Let me show you some photos of the Convention in Louisville, KY

Happy Birthday Caleb!

Seven years ago Caleb was born to Jeffery and Dori Allen. He is a great child full of life. He is such a good grandson. He is an honor roll student. He is able to ride the 4 wheelers and shoot a rifle. He was saved recently and baptized by his daddy at SFBC. I'm so proud of Caleb, he makes me happy as I watch him grow. Thank you Lord for such a wonderful grandson. Thank you Lord for his dad and mom who are great parents. Look at these photos.

Sidekicks

The SFBC Sidekicks took a trip to Charleston, SC on June 13, 2009. We had 30 of our Sidekicks to go. Someone asked the other day, "What is a Sidekick"? Well I looked up the meaning and here it is: The name "sidekick" means "A close companion or comrade" or "close friend". We have a bond at SFBC with one another. We are close friends. We stick close together. God has put all of us together at SFBC. Our Sidekicks are those 55 years old and older. We have a good time as we share and go places. It is so much fun. Look at these photos!

What's Going On at SFBC?

Jeffery took our youth and children to "Wild, Water & Wheels" at Surfside Beach, SC yesterday. This will be an adventure every Monday until school starts back. We had 35 total in attendance for this trip on Monday. It was a good day for all that went. Come on out and enjoy the fun each week with this exciting group of students.

We celebrated "TeamKid" this past Sunday evening at SFBC. It was exciting to see little boys and girls quote Bible verses and Books of the Bible. They received medals for their work during the year. We are so blessed to have a great team leader in Sharon Jones who leads our TeamKid program. She has several who work with her to conduct this very important program for our children. I want to thank all those workers for all the hours they put into having this program on Sunday evenings for our church. We are blessed because you care.

Tomorrow night we will continue our study in Revelation 5:1-14. By the way, we had one saved Monday night during our outreach program. Steve Babb gave his life to Jesus. What a blessing! When we go God will save some.

The Rapture!

I'm so excited about tonight's sermon. The Rapture takes place tonight. We are going to view Heaven and the Lord Jesus Christ. We are snatched away, transported into Heaven to worship the Lord. There is a Throne and a Rainbow around it. The saints of God praise Him forever. One day in the future the Lord will return for His Church. Come on out tonight and learn what we will be doing in Heaven.
